In fact, after I installed X-Plane and tweaked the graphics, I disabled the frame rate counter and never looked at it again. There was no need - X-Plane runs great, so it didn't matter if I was getting 25 fps or Not just for 10 minutes - fly with it for a week or two. Tweak it, make it run and look nice, configure your joystick, etc.
If after playing with the demo for a few weeks you just don't like it for whatever reason, then delete the X-Plane folder from your drive and there's no loss to you X-Plane installs in a folder - no registry entries, no installing files to Program Files, etc.
My experience with X-Plane converted me from FS And only because I gave the demo a fair shot, and didn't compare it to FS My recommendation is for you to do the same. First off, I am not a private, commercial, or military pilot. I have been using MS flight sim since its inception. I think they both have strengths and weaknesses. I will mention what I perceive to be the good and not so good for Xplane In the end, I think you cant go wrong with either.
I like them both! Good - Excellent weather modeling and the clouds are spectacular. It seems you can use a slower cpu and hardware and still have decent results.
This sim replicates the movement; not just a ship moving on still waters! They are modeled more realistic. Not so good - Long initial loading of game. Maybe too many things to configure! I suppose thats a plus for real pilots. It was quite disappointing to discover my two-year-old hand-built XP Gaming computer was barely able to load this behemoth I'd heard so much about all the neat things that X-Plane could do I was exceedingly frustrated to discover that I'll apparently need a new machine to enjoy it The physics model in X-Plane seems much closer to what a real plane behaves, although I've got about half the stuff dumbed down for my machine.
The keyboard and joystick commands are strange to me after twenty some years of FS -- practically all changed; probably keeps them out of intellectual-property hot water with Microsoft, but is yet another hurdle for the fledgling X-Plane user.
So far after three weeks I haven't completed the transition so I'm not really flying as much as having my nose buried in the pdf file - what's this with no documentation in a program that doesn't allow split screen; user unfriendly for the X-Plane neophyte Would I buy it again, absolutely The anti-geek in me is not entertained by all the garbage that one has to go through - indeed a real plane seems far simpler, unless one aspires to flying buses and cargo birds - but what the heck, the price is right and eventually I'll get there.

Otherwise the graphics and frame rate remind me of A flight sim from the s. I don't recommend this software unless you have a very powerful gaming computer, are familiar with add on flight sims and are willing to spend a few hundred more on add on textures and scenery.

Most of it is great, however it dose not run well enough for long hall flights, and stops runninghalf way though flights, so still having to use FSX for long running flights.
